Change Of Locks

There are a number of reasons to have your locks changed. It could be an upgrade to ensure your locks meet the current British Standards or you may have recently moved and don't know who has keys to your home or office whatever the reason our professional Locksmiths are here to help.

Moved House

It's always a good idea to change your locks when you've just moved into a new property for the first time as you never know who has previously been associated with the property. Purchasing a property is one of the biggest investments you'll make in your life so it makes sense to ensure you protect it appropriately.

Lock Replacement

At Locksmith L & E we can provide a suitable replacement lock for all types of door or window. All our Locksmiths stock a selection of cylinder locks for Upvc and composite doors that are anti snap, and a variety of British Standard Mortice locks and Rim cylinders suitable for wooden doors. If you want a specific brand that we do not stock we will be happy to source this for you as a special item. However, our locksmiths will advise you on the best locks for your door and we will advise if we do not think it needs replacing and can provide a service to the lock instead. For more information on our lock servicing packages please contact us.

We carry the full range of major branded locks and our locksmiths will utilise their local knowledge to ensure the correct locking system is used on your property. When we change your locks we leave you with the full set of keys which ensures your peace of mind.

Insurer approved Locks

It is always advised to check that all your locks comply with the standards set by your home insurer otherwise your insurance could be invalid. If you experience a burglary the first thing you will do is call the police, the second will be to look at securing your property and also making a claim through your home insurer. Your insurer will check that everything complies with the policy schedule and insurance approved locks will be on the list. Insurance approved locks will not only make sure your claim is valid but they can also deter burglars in the first place. All the British standard locks we stock are insurer approved so you will never have to worry if you do have to make a claim.

Should I change my locks if I loose my keys?

The short answer to this would be yes. If you loose or think you have misplaced your keys you do not know who may have them and who you could be giving access to your home. Burglaries and attempted break-ins cause such emotional distress to families. Our Manchester Locksmiths have had the misfortune to see this time and time again. It can leave tremendous consequences to the victims and this is why our local locksmiths urge everyone to make sure they have a good level of security on all external doors / windows, and if you are unfortunately enough to loose your keys please change your locks. Our Manchester locksmiths recently attended an incident in Oldham, where a house was broken into via lock snapping and the keys for a new car were stolen. We thought we would put together a short list of easy things you can do to improve the security of your home as advised by our expert locksmiths. Here are 5 ways to improve your home security in Manchester.

  • Do not advertise when you are not going to be home
  • Do Not leave keys in the front or back door over night or in plain sight
  • Make sure you have good quality locks such as British Standard or Anti Snap fitted to your doors
  • Do not have a thumb turn cylinder in doors that have a letter box, this can be opened easily by an experienced burglar
  • If you have a rim cylinder with a night latch increase security by having a mortice lock fitted as well.
  • Do not leave Windows unlocked, and have an extra level of security on your windows if possible, such as sash jammers or cable restrictors
  • Do not advertise yourself and your home
